I’m collaborating with Claire Staszak, an interior designer and owner of Centered by Design, to bring you a monthly “room to outfit” series, where I style an outfit based on an interior that Claire has designed. If you missed the first Room to Outfit post last month, go check it out! Last month’s look was all about glitz and glam, so this month, I styled a more casual, everyday look, using inspiration from a beautiful, fun bedroom that Claire designed.
Shop the look: Top | Jeans | Earrings | Bag | Shoes
How cute is Claire’s bedroom design?! Head to her blog for tips on decorating a guest bedroom.
I love that Claire incorporated some red into this mostly blue bedroom. Sometimes people are hesitant to wear such a bold color, but when you incorporate it with accessories, like these great suede shoes, it works really well on anyone!
Can you tell I’m ready for spring? With these crazy high February temps in Chicago, you could totally wear this outfit now, with a lightweight jacket! Just be sure to tread lightly with crop tops. They are still in style, but I wouldn’t look to Kendall Jenner or Gigi for crop top outfit inspiration. Here are some tips so that you still look elegant and chic in a crop top:
1) Your midriff should not be showing when you’re wearing a crop top. Make sure the seam on the bottom of your top hits the waistband of your bottoms. A good way to ensure this will work is to wear high waisted pants or a skirt.
2) If you are curvier on top, wear a fitted crop top. Many times women who are busty wear baggier shirts to try to minimize their chest, but it actually makes them look larger than they are.
3) If you are petite, a crop top with a high-low hemline is flattering. It will elongate you, making you look taller.
