With Thanksgiving approaching (tomorrow!), you might be thinking about getting those last-minute workouts in before traveling, and/or stuffing your face on Thursday with a delicious holiday feast. Only problem is, we’re all pressed for time. Many of us sneak in workouts during our lunch breaks at work, or in the evening before other plans. You don’t always have time to change your clothes, let alone shower.
While “gym to street” style won’t work for every occasion, here are some tips to perfecting the “after workout chic” look. I collaborated with Lisa Scurlock, owner of Gratitude Yoga, as well as Athleta on this post. You may remember Lisa from her CoChic Cool Chick feature. Since her yoga studio is all about gratitude, I thought Thanksgiving week was the perfect time to re-feature her.
These days, you can find workout attire in tons of different colors, prints, and styles. This makes the clothing much more versatile because it doesn’t necessarily look like you’re wearing gym clothes.
Throw a flannel or chambray button down shirt over a sports bra with mesh detailing, and you have an outfit that’s appropriate for cocktails after yoga! Hint: it looks classier if your shirt is long enough to cover your butt.
Sometimes all it takes is a fitted sweater thrown over gym clothes to elevate the look. This Athleta sweater on Lisa (above) is appropriate to wear with leggings outside the gym because it is fitted, it is long enough to cover her butt, and has fun details like the slits on the side and the small cut outs in the bodice.
Trade your running shoes for high tops or other trendy sneaks after your workout to complete the look.
Not only is Lisa incorporating our layering advice into this look with an awesome cape, we also styled her with a wool and leather baseball cap. Sometimes dry shampoo doesn’t cut it, so these on-trend hats are key! Even a winter beanie could be a fun option.
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving with their loved ones! Don’t worry too much about those extra cals. 😉 Now you’ll want to work out even more with these tips, right??
