I’ve mentioned that CoChic Styling offers Wedding Styling services in the past, but I haven’t shared many examples with you yet! Wedding Styling can be styling anything from your engagement photo shoot, to bridal shower, to rehearsal dinner, to wedding, to honeymoon (any everything in between). I have a client Brooke who I am currently working with to find dresses for all of her pre-wedding events, and I also had the pleasure of styling her for her engagement photo session! (PS – You may recognize Brooke as a CoChic Cool Chick!)
I was super excited to style Brooke for her engagement shoot because 1) I love weddings and 2) she pretty much gave me free range of what to look for while shopping for her. We had a preliminary conversation (complimentary consultation) where I asked her about her lifestyle, personal style, her relationship with her fiance, location of the photo shoot, etc. and went from there!
After sending a questionnaire to determine things like Brooke’s budget, size, and where she typically shops, I was armed and ready to start shopping. I told Brooke I’d find several head-to-toe outfits, varying in price and style, that I thought would look best on her and that were appropriate for the occasion.
I always recommend 1-2 outfits for engagement photo shoots, and this is what most photographers recommend, too. You want to get as much time taking the photos as possible, and not have to change clothes 5 times. Depending on the client, I recommend one more casual outfit and one dressier outfit, which is what I recommended to Brooke.
After shopping at 4 stores specifically chosen for Brooke, I took about 15 outfits to Brooke’s house for an in-home fitting and styling session. I put all the items on a rolling rack so it’s like she was shopping in her own home and, bonus, everything was chosen specifically for HER!
I showed Brooke different ways to put outfits together, using items I had brought for her, as well as items from her existing wardrobe. Brooke then tried on every outfit I brought, complete with shoes and accessories, and we determined together what looked best. Some items were a little bit outside her comfort zone, which she appreciated, but didn’t necessarily love enough to purchase. However, she ended up purchasing some items to wear on an everyday basis, not just for the photo shoot, killing 2 birds with one stone!
After we decided what Brooke was going to purchase, I packed up everything that she decided not to purchase to return. Brooke was left with a few new outfits, two for her engagement photos and a couple for everyday wear, after only spending an hour of her time. Now that’s the way to shop, ladies! 😉
Brooke was gracious enough to share her beautiful photos with me so you can see the outfits we picked out. And I am thankful for her shining review, as well: “Alyssa is absolutely wonderful to work with! She styled me for my engagement session and the entire process was seamless. Start to finish, I really feel like she listened to me and helped elevate my existing style preferences. From the outfit selections, to her professionalism, to the ease of payment – she nailed it! Her clothing selections were so great, I picked up a few pieces just integrate into my general wardrobe. I’m already looking for the next opportunity to work with her – might need a general wardrobe refresh here soon come spring! Definitely recommend!”
If you are in the market (aka engaged 😉 ), I’d love to help YOU with your wedding styling! Feel free to contact me with any questions!
